This 3 cup espresso maker by Bialetti is part of its Moka range. It has an aluminium upper body in anthracite with a stainless steel lower section. The coffee maker has a grey handle, knob and central band. It is suitable for all hobs including induction. The coffee maker has an overall height of 16,5cm/6,5in and a base diameter of 10cm/3,9in. The inside of the upper section has a special paint finish. Please note that this cup size is based on espresso cup sizes and not on regular tea or coffee cup sizes.

I have found that 1 shot (9gms) coffee and just over half the amount of water does indeed make 1 cup. 2 shots (18gms) and a full pot of water – to the safety valve – works great. Doesn’t use all the water The quality is good, but only 3 stars because after the coffee percolates to the top, there is always a significant amount of water still left in the bottom. I have tried leaving it for longer but it makes no difference. I don’t have this problem with my other stovetop espresso makers. One not is that this is induction-friendly but I am using it on a case stove/hob. Not sure why this should make a difference, though.

Poor design, poor functionality, por quality- avoid. I used to have a normal Bialetti cooker top coffee pot which was fine so when I needed an induction one I went straight for the same brand. But this is a very poor product. The first one arrived with an ill fitting lid which didn’t quite close – I didn’t even try using it as I knew that coffee would pour out the side. Exchanged it for a new one – the lid fitted properly however no matter how long you leave it to boil, only half the water boils through which means you barely get enough coffee…
